Codes and conventions I plan on and don't plan on using !

Do's
Keep to a three main colour rule
Use the same front style as my opening titles
Have the heron the front
Use colours which reflect the location

Dont's
Dont use to bright colours
Dont have more then one person

Challenges
Because my film isn't a full length featuer film and is a short film I'm going to brake the convention of just putting a clear shot of the hero because there isn't enough time to build enough of a report with one character in the same was as a full length film.

Exeter Filming

As my story board states my film was going to start in exeter however once I had filmed it i decided I didn't actual like it very much and so changed my mind and instead decide to leave it out all together. The reason for this mostly was it is only as hort film and it didnt seem to bring enough impact to the film if this was a featucher film I would have been more inclinded to use it howrever as my target time is around 4:30 min I donthave a greta amountof time to include opening scene setting shots to establish it. The other issue was again down to time the city and compared to the woodland location where so extreme and with out a driving etc shots showing the transition it came across as very blunt and a bit extreme.

Audience Feedback

I showed my film to the class on a projected big screen and then asked them to report back to me the things which they thought were good.

I was told I had a clear narrative at this stage and reflected my characters though dress code and camera angles. I was told I need to add a few more shots to make very c concleaing lear the of a object inside of his jacket pocket. Another thing I was told I need to improve upon is cropping down the scope shot to make it so you couldnt see any of the woodland other then down the scope as although i did it al lfor real being able to see around the scope means that it looks unreal. James raised the point of wether the font I was using is appropriate for my style and genra. From reassessing it I have decided it is to soft and infact I need to change it to a sharper and more defined font.

Research into film poster ancillary task

Generic Conventions

No more then 3/4 colours for the text fonts 1 of which normally link to the photo or background of the poster.

They tend to keep the number of words very minimal. Title of the film credits for the companies involve at the bottom reviews and possible a small catch phrase or something indicating what will happen.

The Photos for posters of a similar genre and style to mine tend to only use one person usually the hero of the film.

The font types for my genre also tend to be very block and type writer like not fancy or over the top.

The colours used for my genre also show a trend pink and bright green don't tend to be used they tend to be red white black. Blue is used in the transporter film poster and the bourn identity however it is a almost florescent blue but because of the other colours used it still implies the genre which it is.

Character dress code

Both characters in my film need to look tuff not ruff and ready but at the same time not suited up overly smart. Although I want them to have this in similar I still want them to have strong defining features and for good reason.

The villain being the chaser I have choosen to dress in a jean jacket and black trousers and black boots.

The hero (runner) Is wearing in a sued jack with a blue shit, blue jeans and brown boots. Although these items of cloths still caonte a labouring tuff man they arnt as dark and imposing.

However if I had a budget to buy the perfect cloths for this film I would use these.

My Characters and how they are represented

The runner

The key characterises for making this the hero:
He is not carrying a gun
He is dresses in plain clothing
The shots show him in light conditions
The shots show him in full focus

The Chaser

The key characterises for making this the villain:
His face is not shown clearly
He has a gun
He actors irrationally to finding out the runner has already taken something from the woods
He wears much darker clothing
Shots of him are all not in full focus or at least not clear

However at the end of the film the runner who we have been lead to believe is the hero could have shot the villain so it could be argued that he isn't as heroic as he is and did we get it all wrong ?Although is it even him walking away this in unknown and open to audience interpretation. Rather then the viewer simple standing up and walking away thinking that was a entertaining few minuets. They will instead hopefully be provoked to think about it further and read into it so not every one will have the same view point!

Relatable Films

The Hunger games - This film I have already talked about already. However the relatable elements from this film to my own are huge. To rename the main two they are both set in a very similar location as far as the physical environment with both being set in a woodland area. Another being that they use very fast paced edited and use jerky jumpy unsmooth filming techniques to as a way to translate the panic and severity of the situation from the characters to the viewer.
James Bond Casino Royal - Although the main bulk off this film is world away from what im trying to create the opening chase scene with two men on foot is very relatable. The fast pace not to over the top expositions and chaos is something I really do want to make so I do in my
The Bourn Identity
The Transporter - These two films don't have a chase quite like what im trying to base my film around however what they do do is have strong elements off a very gritty and man v man film some off the ways they do this is by using fast pace editing as well as low camera angles ( dramatic angles ) by shooting from varied angles it can make one person look more venerable and another more imposing.
The Matrix - This is a Si-Fi film so again very different in many ways however the use of lighting in this film is amazing by using a contrast of lighting from dark to light it can clearly show the difference of weather the fight is being won by either the villain or hero. The film also has an abundance of free running and special effects which I want to try and use however on a slightly smaller scale as to not attempt more then I am capable of doing.
